Engineering News-Record Ranks Nation’s Construction Companies
Engineering News-Record (ENR) annually publishes its list of the Top 400 Contractors in the United States. The rankings are recognized within the commercial construction industry as the standard by which construction companies are rated.
Layton ranked the 57th largest commercial contractor
The 2016 Top 400 list shows Layton Construction as the 57th largest commercial contractor in the country. The rankings are based on 2015 construction revenues reported by the companies to ENR.
In Utah, Layton is the largest commercial contractor, outranking five other Utah companies on the list. In Hawaii, where Layton’s presence continues to grow, there is no island-based contractor that is larger than Layton Construction. Although there are companies in Arizona with a larger local presence, there are none bigger on the ENR Top 400 list that have the depth and experience than Layton offers with its near 30-year presence in Arizona.
In addition to locations in Utah, Hawaii and Arizona, Layton Construction has offices in Idaho, California, Florida and Tennessee.
The Top 400 contractors aggregate revenue for 2015 was $344.1 billion, a record high, finally surpassing the previous mark of $338.4 billion, set in 2008 before the Great Recession.
ENR senior editor Gary J. Tulacz reported, “For most firms, the current market is strong and poised to be healthy for the near term.” But “despite the healthy market, many contractors complain that competition remains intense.”
