Layton Golf Tournament Raises $12,000 for Cancer Research
KAUAI, HAWAII (May 1, 2019) – Layton Construction’s Kauai office took to the golf course April 26 in the First Annual Layton Kauai 5 for the Fight Charity Golf Tournament and scored more than $12,000 for cancer research.
Layton Executive Vice President Tyler Dillon opened the event and introduced Todd Cullison from the University of Hawaii Cancer Center who spoke briefly on the focused research that they do with the multi-ethnic cohort and cancers specific to islanders.
Layton reached out to friends in the community and got an heartwarming response, with 15 teams participating. All major Layton subcontractors on Kauai either participated or sponsored the tournament – many did both.
The Layton Kauai office recruited Oahu project assistants Grace Yee and Edie Cosner and also got great help from the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.
“We had a shotgun start and perfect weather – mostly blue skies, 77 degrees,” said Project Assistant Mia Checkley, “Pacific Mirror and Glass sponsored a hole and also handed out treats and drinks. We had a nice awards ceremony afterwards with Layton Business Developer Dale Keep handing out the prizes. The final numbers are not in, but it looks as if proceeds will clear $12K, well over the goal of $10K.”
Congratulations to PICS Inc., winners of the tournament!
